Fostering Family Leaders
United Way’s Fostering Family Leaders (FFL) is a 2 hour series of ten workshops designed to train and support emerging parent leaders. These sessions are designed to provide a space for parents and caregivers to share and receive emotional and practical support and build their leadership and advocacy skills.

By being intentional when engaging families and embedding the five protective factors within programs and daily work, families are empowered and children thrive. The 5 Protective Factors framework is designed to strengthen the mental well-being of both parents and children to best prevent a pattern of abuse, neglect, and dependency. In this training, we'll examine the five Protective Factors:

1. Parental Resilience
2. Social Connections
3. Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
4. Concrete Support in Times of Need
5. Social and Emotional Competence of Children
