Furthering Fathering in Atlanta has partnered with Fathers Incorporated to launch Real Dads Read. Kenneth Braswell the Executive Director of Fathers Inc. is currently an independent author of 3 children's books of his own and deemed the partnership wise where both organizations can successfully serve two generations. Currently Real Dads Read has 27 libraries inside of barbershops in the Metro Atlanta area as well as an additional 10 barbershops and beauty salons in Columbus, GA with our partner Parent 2 Parent.
Real Dads Read (RDR) is aimed at elementary and middle school aged children (0-8) and their fathers/male caregivers with the goals of 1) encouraging children to develop a love of reading, 2) improving children’s literacy skills and educational outcomes, and 3) strengthening bonds between fathers/caregivers and their children. Real Dads Read is a two-generation approach to engaging and improving outcomes for both men and the children for which they are responsible.
